Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Account — the name, email address, and account identifier provided when you sign in with Google. Used only to sign you in and to tell your library apart from others.
- Usage — the videos you add, learning and watch progress, saved segments, and point history. Used to provide the product (resume playback, progress marks, usage accounting).
- Learning input — the speech and sentences you submit in speaking and writing practice. Used to score them and generate feedback.
- Email address (optional) — collected only if you ask to be notified, and used only for that notice.
Processors
We entrust processing to the providers below to run the service. We do not sell personal data to them or to anyone else.
- Google — sign-in (Sign in with Google).
- OpenAI — generating captions, summaries, and translations for videos, and speech recognition and scoring. Your learning input (speech, sentences) and video captions are sent for this processing.
- Paddle — payment for point purchases. Payment happens on Paddle's screen; card numbers and other payment details never pass through our servers. We receive only the completion notice (order number, item, amount).
- Amplitude (USA) — website analytics. Only what is described under "Website analytics" below is sent; no account or email.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect location or contacts.
- We do not track you for advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
Website analytics
- We measure how people use the insightcut.com website — pages visited, how far they scroll, which sections they reach, what they click, how long they stay, the display language, whether they see the desktop or mobile layout, and where they arrived from — using Amplitude (Amplitude, Inc., USA).
- Amplitude stores a random device identifier in your browser and derives an approximate location (country/city) from your IP address. No name, email or account is sent.
- This applies to the website only. The extension's anonymous usage counts are described below and do not go to Amplitude.
- Blocking cookies and site storage for this site prevents the device identifier from being stored.
The browser extension
The Chrome extension InsightCut (인사이트컷) runs only on youtube.com. It does not read other sites and does not collect your browsing history.
- What is sent to the server — the video ID of the video you want insights for, and your sign-in token. The server produces that video's captions, summary, and key segments and stores them in your library. While you are signed in, how far you have watched and save marks are recorded to your account, used for resume and "watched" badges, and — only as anonymous totals (how many people finished or saved a segment) — for public recommendations. Who watched is never shown. If you run out of points, the extension sends the email you signed up with, one line, so we can tell you when paid top-ups open — nothing else.
- Your first 3 videos are added automatically — once the extension is installed and you are signed in, a video 15 minutes or longer that you have been watching for a minute is added without you pressing anything (your first 3 videos, up to 150 minutes in total; music videos are excluded). What is sent is exactly what a manual add sends — that video's ID and your sign-in token — and nothing more. The first time it happens you are told on screen and can switch it off right there, and you can switch it off at any time in the extension's settings. With it off, videos are added only when you press the button.
- When you contact us — sending a message through the extension's contact form submits your message together with the context needed to reproduce the problem: the video's ID, title and address, your plan, the extension version, the screen you were on, and your browser. If you are not signed in you must supply a reply-to email address, which is used only to reply. The form states exactly what is being sent before you send it.
- What stays in the browser — your sign-in token and settings (such as the backend
address) live in
chrome.storage.localand never leave this browser. - Anonymous usage counts — to learn how much the extension is used we send counts only: installs, how often the panel appeared on a video page and which prompt it showed (view, make, or sign up), how often the sign-in window was opened and its outcome, and the extension version. These carry no account, video ID, IP address or browser identifier, and cannot be used to identify you.
- When you uninstall — removing the extension makes Chrome open our
uninstall page (
/uninstall). That the page appeared is recorded once, anonymously, together with the extension version; if you tap one of the reason buttons, the single option you chose is recorded too. There is no text box and no email field. It carries no account, email or video ID, so we cannot tell who uninstalled. Opening that address directly, without the one-time marker the extension adds, records nothing at all. - What it never does — no advertising tracking, no analytics that follows individuals, no keystroke collection, no unauthorised transmission of page content. We do not sell what the extension sees, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
YouTube content
Videos play in the official YouTube embedded player. Playback is governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account yourself at any time from Settings. Deletion works as follows.
- Deleted — your account and sign-in details, learning and watch records, saved segments, and point history. This cannot be undone, and links you shared stop opening.
- Kept after anonymisation — processing results such as video summaries and insights may be kept, with any link to you removed, to improve service quality. Such data is never re-associated with your account or email and is not shown publicly.
